Purpose of Organization: |
Psi Chi is an international honor society whose purpose shall be to encourage, stimulate, and maintain excellence in scholarship of the individual members in all fields, particularly in psychology, and to advance the science of psychology. The mission of Psi Chi is to produce a well-educated, ethical, and socially responsible member committed to contributing to the science and profession of psychology and to society in general. |
Election Information: |
Annual executive board elections are held in April. Inducted members who are interested in running for the board submit a short biography to the faculty advisor by a specified deadline. The 2015-2016 executive board consists of:

Meeting Information: |
Chapter meetings occur on the first Wednesday of each month during common hour (12:00-1:00 PM). All students interested in psychology are encouraged to attend and get involved, whether or not they have been officially inducted into the organization. |
Membership: |
To be eligible for induction, students must meet strict academic criteria to be considered:
- 9 hours of Psychology credits completed
- 36 total hours completed
- 3.0 Psychology GPA
- Cumulative GPA in the top 35% of your class (this changes every semester; check with the faculty advisor to see if you have met this requirement)
- Declared Psychology as your major or minor
- If you are a transfer student you must have 1 semester (12 hours) completed at Southeast
Potential members who meet the requirements will receive a letter about being inducted into Psi Chi. Questions about membership requirements should be addressed to our faculty advisor, Dr. Jeremy Heider (jheider@semo.edu).
