Event Description:
Why is civic engagement important? To understand that, one must first understand what civic engagement is — it is anything you do to proactively make a difference in the civic life of your community. It can include volunteering at the local food pantry, organizing activities to promote the arts, volunteering to be an election judge, and so many other things. When you are engaged in civic activities, you develop skills, knowledge, and networks that become a part of your entire life, both personally and professionally. To be involved in the civic life of your community is not only to be engaged in a full range of citizenship rights and duties, but it is also a way to develop yourself personally and professionally.
