KRCU TO HOST CZECH-SLOVAK BLUEGRASS BAND 'FRAGMENT'

CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo., July 25, 2003 - KRCU 90.9 FM welcomes the bluegrass band "Fragment" to Cape Girardeau for a concert Aug. 6.

"Fragment" is a five-person band whose members are from the Czech and Slovak Republics. Jana Dolakova is vocalist and bass player; Heinrich Novák plays the dobro; Milan Marek plays the mandolin; Tomáš Jurena is on guitar; and Richard Ciferský plays the banjo.

The band has become a favorite of the Czechoslovak bluegrass scene, and is now on its fourth U.S. tour. Having played a variety of bluegrass music festivals and other venues, including the Grand Ole Opry in Nashville, Tenn., "Fragment" will be performing in the University Center at Southeast Missouri State University. The concert, which is sponsored by Southeast Public Radio, will begin at 8 p.m.

Tickets are on sale at the KRCU studios, located at 338 N. Henderson in Cape Girardeau. Ticket prices are $10, and discounts are available for students and seniors. For more information, call (573) 651-5070.
