BRODEUR NAMED DIRECTOR OF HUMAN RESOURCES

CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo., June 27, 2003 – Philip Brodeur of Leyden, Mass., and former director of human resources at Marlboro (Vt.) College, has been named director of human resources at Southeast Missouri State University.

The announcement was made following a closed session meeting of the Southeast Missouri State University Board of Regents June 27.

Brodeur has 24 years of experience in human resources and employee relations positions. He will begin his new duties at Southeast July 21.

Brodeur replaces Mike Dougherty, who left Southeast in February to take a position at the Colorado School of Mines in Golden, Colo. Debbi Cecil-Robinson, assistant director of human resources, has been serving as interim director of human resources at Southeast since that time.

In his new position, Brodeur will report to Dr. Ivy Locke, vice president for business and finance at Southeast, will serve as one of the University’s key advisors and will serve on Administrative Council. He will be responsible for the overall planning, direction, management, and administration of Human Resources; establishment and management of budgets; development and administration of Human Resource policies; and development and implementation of the Human Resources strategic plan. He will supervise 12 staff members and manage benefits, compensation administration, employee relations, information systems, labor relations, payroll, recruitment and selection, and training and development.

At Marlboro College, Brodeur has been responsible for recruitment and training, salary and benefits administration, compliance and related human resources activities.

He has been director of human resources for Uniplat Films in Palmer, Mass.; manager of human resources with Quebecor Printing in Brattleboro, Vt.; director of human resources with Deerfield Plastics Company in South Deerfield, Mass.; and manager of employee relations with Ingersoll Rand Co. in South Deerfield, Mass. He has taught human resource management at Greenfield Community College.

He holds a bachelor of arts degree from Boston University and attended the Graduate School of Business at the University of Massachusetts.
