FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

SOUTHEAST HOLDING NCA CHEER AND NDA DANCE CAMPS

CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo., June 20, 2003- This week, nearly 500 cheerleaders and 100 dancers from Missouri, Illinois, Arkansas, and Kentucky were at Southeast Missouri State University participating in Cheer, All-Star, and Dance Camps in the Student Recreation Center and the Show Me Center.

Several more camps will be offered this summer. Upcoming Cheer Camp dates are set for July 20-23, 24-27, and 28-30. The July 20-23 and 24-27 sessions will have a special elite section, which allows for more advanced squads to work with instructors at their level. The July 28-30 session includes a special section for junior high squads.

All of the sections are open to junior and senior high school squads. Over 1,000 campers are expected for the July sessions.

"This year we were able to focus in on some special skills and instruction. In addition to the traditional aspects of cheerleading, NCA (National Cheerleading Association) instructors this week also worked with all star and elite squads in very targeted ways. Of course, the dance camp continues to grow and is a popular addition to the overall cheer/dance program," said Juan Crites, Southeast director of Public Services and Publications.
