GARY JOHNSON NAMED CHAIR OF THE MISSOURI SOCIETY OF CPAS

CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo., May 23, 2003 - Dr. Gary Johnson, professor of accounting, finance and business law at Southeast Missouri State University and a certified public accountant (CPA), has been named chair of the Missouri Society of Certified Public Accountants (MSCPA).

He will serve a one-year term, which begins July 1 and will lead the society as its chief elected officer.

Johnson joined MSCPA in 1984 and has served on the society's board of directors and on the Accounting and Auditing Careers Committee. During his tenure at the society, he has served in many other committee and chapter leadership positions.

MSCPA is the largest professional association dedicated to advancing CPAs in Missouri. MSCPA represents more than 8,000 CPA members in public practice, industry, government, and education. Established in 1909, MSCPA provides members with continuing education, governmental advocacy, and networking opportunities, while working to further the future of the CPA profession through student-focused initiatives.
