SPRING FINALS SURVIVAL CARNIVAL PLANNED FOR MAY 7

CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo., May 2, 2003 - Southeast Missouri State University students are invited to take a break from studying and enjoy food and prizes at the Spring Finals Survival Carnival scheduled during the final Common Hour of the spring semester on May 7.

The theme of the carnival is "Ride the Wave to Finals Success." The event is planned for 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the University Center.

Events will include a performance by the Southeast Jazz Band, a sidewalk sale with merchandise from Southeast Bookstore, giveaways and chances to win prizes. Due to the popularity of survival kits, 200 will be distributed to students this semester on a first come first serve basis beginning at noon. Free food also will be provided.

Students who participate can learn how to reduce their stress and to cram effectively as they study for final exams. They also can learn which foods give them extra energy to do well on their exams.

The carnival is sponsored by Student Development, the University Center, the Learning Enrichment Center, Southeast Bookstore and Student Support Services, and as well as many community businesses such as Gilster Mary-Lee and Wal-Mart.
