FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

GRADUATING SENIORS TO DISPLAY ARTWORK BEGINNING APRIL 25

CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo., April 11, 2003 - The Graduating Seniors in Art Exhibition will open April 25 in the Southeast Missouri State University Museum.

An opening reception is planned for 4 to 6 p.m.

Majors in the Department of Art participate in this annual keystone exhibition. Bachelor of Fine Arts students enrolled in the "Senior Exhibition" class - Art 450 - take an active role in working as curators for the exhibition and installing the works in the Museum's galleries.

The exhibit will feature the work of nine students and will include painting, sculpture, graphic design and drawing. Students display works associated with their major area.

Megan Thrower, a senior art major from Cape Girardeau enrolled in Art 450, said the two-semester class began last fall, during which students learned how to write grants, resumes and press releases. This semester, students have focused on preparing for the show.

The exhibit will remain on display through May 18.

In conjunction with the Graduating Seniors in Art Exhibit, the Schock Community Art Center will host a corollary exhibit featuring the work of Southeast seniors. That exhibit will open at 7 p.m. April 25. It also will remain on display through May 18. The Schock Community Art Center is located on 116 East Hickey in Scott City, Mo.
