CHOREOGRAPHER E. E. BALCOS TO OFFER MASTER CLASSES AT SOUTHEAST

CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo., Feb. 28, 2003 - DanceXpressions and the Southeast Missouri State Department of Theatre and Dance are hosting a residency by guest artist E. E. Balcos March 3-7.

Balcos, an expert in Contact Improvisation and other dance forms, will be offering master classes throughout the week.

On March 3, a session will be open to the public at 6 p.m. in the Parker 210 Dance Studio on the Southeast campus.

Balcos, who is currently assistant professor at Southwest Missouri State University, will be creating a new work for students that will premiere at the SiteWorks Dance Concerts held May 7-10. The first concert will be held at noon on May 7 on the Academic Terraces at Southeast. This concert is free and open to the public.

Other performances of the SiteWorks Dance Concert will be held at the Schock Arts Center in Scott City, Mo.; the Bootheel Youth Museum in Malden, Mo.; the Old Town Cape Street Fair in Cape Girardeau; and the River Campus.

Balcos has toured nationally and internationally, performing with such companies as New York-based Shapiro & Smith Dance and the Florida-based Demetrius Klein Dance Company.

The residency has been made possible in part by support from Student Government.
