FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE UNIVERSITY CHOIR, CHORAL UNION MEMBERS TO PERFORM AT CARNEGIE HALL
CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo., Feb. 28, 2003 - Members of the Southeast Missouri State University Choir and Choral Union will be performing on April 20 at Carnegie Hall in New York. Dr. John Egbert, director of choral activities at Southeast, was invited by Mid-America Production to conduct a performance at Carnegie Hall. "Mid-America Production is a company founded by a college choir instructor about 20 years ago," said Egbert. "Their purpose is to recommend conductors and invite them to bring groups to New York to perform. I was given the invitation to come and perform in Carnegie Hall last spring and opened the invitation up to students in the University Choir and Choral Union." About 40 people will be going with Egbert to perform at Carnegie Hall. They will be performing "Mass in G" by Franz Chubert and "Zadok the Priest" by George Frederick Handle. The performance will begin at 8:30 p.m. "To perform at Carnegie Hall is a huge draw for people in the art," he said. "Being able to seat 1,500 to 2,000 people and still maintain an intimate setting makes Carnegie Hall the best performance hall in the United States." | |
