FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

UNIVERSITY MUSEUM TO FEATURE INSTALLATION BY PAUL SCHOCK IN MARCH

CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo., Feb. 14, 2003 - "A Persistent Perspective: An Installation by Paul Schock" will be on display in the Southeast Missouri State University Museum beginning Feb. 28.

Schock, an assistant professor of art in the areas of sculpture and new genre, will create a site-specific installation in the Museum's Fine Art Galleries. Visitors can expect to see a variety of media, techniques and styles, including paintings, photography and sculpture. Schock says the exhibit will allow those who view it the opportunity to use a lot of their senses not often used in connection with art.

The exhibit's "visual and kinetic art pieces will allow viewers to engage and to participate," he said, adding that installation artwork is about getting involved with and experiencing an exhibit, not just looking at it.

An opening reception is planned for 4 to 6 p.m. Feb. 28. The installation will remain on display through March 23.
