FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE WICKS NAMED DIRECTOR OF DEVELOPMENT-MAJOR GIFTS
CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo., Feb. 14, 2003 - Karen Wicks has been named director of development-major gifts at Southeast Missouri State University. Wicks began her position at Southeast on Nov. 30, 2002. "I am excited to be back at Southeast and look forward to working with our alumni, friends, faculty and staff to secure private funding that will provide support for the students, faculty and academic programs," said Wicks. Wicks primary responsibilities as director of development-major gifts will be to plan and implement an ongoing comprehensive development effort among alumni and friends; organize and lead the Moves Management process for the identification, cultivation, solicitation and stewardship of major donors for capital, endowment and annual fund initiatives; and maintain a portfolio of major gift prospects. Other responsibilities include promoting the use of gift planning services offered by the Southeast Missouri University Foundation; identifying grant-making entities and assisting them in the preparation of proposals; and overseeing and participating in a growing college-based development effort. Before accepting the position with Southeast, Wicks served as director of development at the University of Missouri-St. Louis for over three years. Prior to her position at University of Missouri-St. Louis, she spent one year as the director of development at the Pediatric Research Institute in St. Louis, Mo. From 1994 to 1998, she was employed at Washington State University in Pullman, Wash., serving as assistant director of college relations. Wicks was employed at Southeast from 1989 to 1994, serving as manager of development and alumni services for almost two years and serving as an admissions counselor for four years. Wicks holds a master of science degree in administration and a bachelor of science degree in business administration with a major in management and a minor in accounting from Southeast. She also completed an associate in arts degree from Three Rivers Community College in Poplar Bluff, Mo. | |
