FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

WOODS NAMED KRCU 90.9 FM GENERAL MANAGER

CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo., Dec. 6, 2002 - Southeast Missouri State University's public radio station, KRCU 90.9 FM, has recently named Danny Woods as station general manager. Prior to his selection, Woods served as the station's interim general manager.

"The selection pool of applicants for the KRCU general manager position was nationally-based," said Dr. Martin Jones, dean of the College of Liberal Arts. "Woods competed successfully with this national pool to fulfill a very demanding position with Southeast's public radio station. The station staff and community advisory board members involved in the interview process were surprised and very pleased with the breadth of Woods' knowledge for public radio, his enthusiasm for developing the station and his strong commitment to developing southeast regional public radio," Jones said.

Woods' duties as station general manager will include overseeing station operations and membership drives, supervision of professional station staff, administration of grants and managing the station budget.

"I am very excited about the future of Southeast public radio," said Woods. "There are several exciting projects on the horizon, including expansion into the Farmington area and the installation of new computer-based broadcast equipment.

"I am happy to be able to work with such a wonderful group of people at KRCU," he added. "Everyone loves public radio and loves what they do. It makes coming to work a real joy."

Woods has a long history with KRCU, having served the station in various positions since 1995. Prior to being appointed interim general manager in April, Woods served as operations director for six years. He also served as operations assistant.

Woods began his career in public radio as a local host and operations assistant at WSVH/WWIO-FM in Savannah, Ga.

Woods graduated from Southeast in 1994 with a bachelor of science degree, majoring in mass communication with a radio option and a minor in political science.
