FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

REGISTRATION FOR PARKING PERMITS OPENS DEC. 1

CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo., Nov. 22, 2002 - Southeast Missouri State University students may begin applying Dec. 1 for perimeter resident, perimeter commuter and evening only parking permits valid for the 2003 spring and summer sessions.

New students beginning at Southeast in January or continuing students who have not already purchased a parking decal are eligible to apply.

Students may apply for a permit via Southeast Online Services (S.O.S.) The online system will allow students to select a payment option - cash, check or electronic debit of their checking account. Students will not be able to charge their permit online to a credit card, but they may choose to pay with a credit card in person or by mail.

Registration will open at 8 a.m. Dec. 1. Students may apply and pay for permits online, or they may complete a standard paper application. Students who apply using Southeast S.O.S. should click on the "Parking Permit" registration option on the Southeast S.O.S. page located at http://www.semo.edu/webapps/. There, they may choose their payment method.

The Department of Public Safety (DPS) will issue and mail permits daily to students through Jan. 10. After that, students may pick up their decals from DPS located in Dearmont Hall. The permits will be valid through August 2003.

Beth Glaus, manager of parking and transit, reminds students that perimeter permits become valid in preferred commuter lots after 1:30 p.m. and in employee lots at academic buildings at 5 p.m.

Perimeter resident and perimeter commuter permits are $64 for the spring and summer sessions. Evening only permits for the same time period are $34.
