FOUR SOUTHEAST STUDENTS PASS PROFESSIONAL IN HUMAN RESOURCES CERTIFICATION EXAM

CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo., Nov. 15, 2002 - Two students and two recent graduates of Southeast Missouri State University recently passed the Professional in Human Resources (PHR) certification exam.

They are Tricia Moriarity of Jonesboro, Ill., who graduated from Southeast in May; Kari Richardson of Geff, Ill., who graduated from Southeast in August; and Robert Porter of Sikeston, Mo., and Angie Hoffman of Cape Girardeau, Mo., both of whom are expected to graduate in December.

The PHR certification is a symbol of professional achievement. Beyond experience and education, the PHR designation signifies that a person has mastered the human resource body of knowledge. The PHR certification provides national recognition and an aid for career advancement.

The PHR certification exam is sponsored by the Human Resource Certification Institute (HRCI) of the Society for Human Resource Management. Examination items are developed to measure the requirements established by the profession which reflect the relevant body of knowledge required by the human resources profession. The examination is divided into six functional areas, including management practices; selection and placement; compensation and benefits; training and development; employee and labor relations; and health, safety and security.
