REGENTS APPROVE ADDITION TO FACILITIES MANAGEMENT SERVICE CENTER FOR CENTRAL RECEIVING, MAIL SERVICES

CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo., Oct. 18, 2002 - The Southeast Missouri State University Board of Regents today approved an addition to the Facilities Management Service Center at 610 Washington Street to accommodate the University's Central Receiving and Mail Services operations.

University officials told the Regents the addition is necessary after the Southeast Missouri University Foundation recently sold a building at 221 N. Fountain Street that currently houses the University's Printing and Duplicating, and Central Receiving operations. Developers say the Fountain Street site will be used for parking in connection with the renovation of the Marquette Hotel, just across the street.

As a result, the Regents approved a 13,000-square-foot addition to the north of the Facilities Management Service Center to accommodate Central Receiving and Mail Services operations at a cost not to exceed $700,000.

Specifications on the two-story addition call for the Facilities Management stores area to relocate to the first floor area with Central Receiving occupying the second floor. The offices for Central Receiving, Mail Services and Stores will be housed on the second floor of the existing building in available floor space.

Funding for the project will be from three sources: $200,000 from the sale of the Fountain Street property; $270,000 from the Central Receiving Auxiliary Fund Balance; and $230,000 from the Energy Performance Contract.
