At 8 p.m., prior to the vigil, the Student Activities Council will sponsor a unity procession, in which residence hall students will meet outside of their buildings and will walk in a candlelight procession to the "A Time to Remember" vigil.

The vigil, which is free and open to the public, will begin by observing two minutes of silence at the Kala M. Stroup Fountain in front of Kent Library. Two minutes of silence also will be observed across the entire Southeast campus at the same time.

The vigil will feature music performed by Sara Edgerton and Paul Thompson of the Southeast Missouri State University music faculty and a music student. Student leaders and chaplains will lead participants in a "Litany of Remembrance and Hope" as developed by the National Council of Churches. During the litany, the names of victims of last year's tragedies will be read.

The Rev. Bob Towner, an adjunct faculty member in the Department of Philosophy and Religion at Southeast, will lead the vigil.

Co-sponsors of the vigil are the Center for Health and Counseling, and the Association of Campus Ministries at Southeast. The Student Activities Council also is sponsoring a unity procession in connection with the event.
