The production is scheduled for 8 p.m. Sept. 27-28 and Oct. 3-5. A 2 p.m. matinee is scheduled for Oct. 6. All performances are in Forrest H. Rose Theatre.

This award-winning Canadian play uses the form of Greek tragedy to tell a timeless story about what Friedrich Nietzsche called "the short but intense life of those who refuse to compromise." Carmen, an American-style country music idol in the entertainment district of Montreal, Canada, returns from a sojourn in Nashville, Tenn., where she took singing lessons and learned to yodel.

Her pilgrimage has given Carmen a passionate desire to share truth through her music. This passion plants the seeds of her tragedy as, warned by her manager and friends that her club audience is only interested in being entertained, Carmen still refuses to compromise her personal vision. Due to strong language and adult themes and subject matter, this play is strongly suggested for mature audiences only.

Tickets are $8 for the public; $7 for University faculty and staff, and senior citizens; $6 for students; and $5 for groups of 10 or more on weeknights or matinees only.
