Sociology Film Series Will Present ‘Chick Flicks’

CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo., Aug. 16, 2002 - The Southeast Missouri State University Department of Sociology and Anthropology will host a film series during the fall semester that features films focusing on family issues, including divorce, death, infertility and nontraditional relationships.

Most of the films presented during the "Chick Flicks" film series will be romantic dramas with comedic elements. All of the films are British and received little or no theatrical release in the United States.

The public is welcome and admission to all films is free. All films will be shown in Parker Hall on the Southeast campus at 7 p.m., in Room 108.

The first of the series, "Jack & Sarah," will be shown on Sept. 9. "Maybe Baby," will be shown on Sept. 30; "Blow Dry," will be shown on Oct. 23; and "High Heels and Low Lifes," will be shown on Nov. 15. The series will conclude on Dec. 6 with "The Hidden Fortress."
