"Michele has been serving as interim director since March and has done an outstanding job in this and her previous positions at Southeast," said Loren Rullman, assistant vice president of enrollment management and director of student auxiliary services. "We conducted a national search with postings in the Chronicle of Higher Education and other visible places such as the Association of College Unions International. To those of you who have worked with Michele, you know it is no surprise that the best candidate was right here at home and that Michele is an outstanding selection."

Prior to serving as interim director, Irby served for two years as assistant director of operations and, for two years prior to that, as assistant director for student involvement. Before coming to Southeast, Irby was employed in the Residence Life and Campus Activities Offices at Central Missouri State University as a housing and Greek Life professional. She has had experience in all facets of the University Center at Southeast.

Irby replaces Mary Kay Poljan, who left the University Center to accept a new position with KRCU Radio.

Lori Lynn, director of recreational sports, chaired the search process. Other members of the search committee were Vida Mays, Bruce Skinner, Dana McAdams and Kim Fees.
