CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo., June 28, 2002 -- Trudy Lee, director of Planned Giving with the Southeast Missouri University Foundation, recently received the professional designation of Certified Specialist in Planned Giving (CSPG) from the American Institute for Philanthropic Studies at the California State University, Long Beach Foundation.

To earn the CSPG designation, Lee demonstrated substantial knowledge and skill in all aspects of charitable gift planning through classes and exams over a one-year period and a final practicum approved by the program faculty.

"This certification demonstrates Trudy's technical knowledge as well as her commitment to serving donors and professional advisors in a competent and ethical manner. We're proud of her accomplishment," said Alan Zacharias, vice president for University Advancement and executive director of the Southeast Missouri University Foundation.

Since 1993, the CSPG program has been training individuals from a variety of professions, including attorneys, accountants, financial planners, trust officers and fundraisers. Lee is the ninth person in the Midwest to receive the CSPG designation and only the second in Missouri.
