“RESEARCH IN THE SUMMER FIELD SCHOOL” TO BE PRESENTED JUNE 19 AT SOUTHEAST HISTORIC PRESERVATION FIELD SCHOOL

CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo., June 7, 2002 - The Historic Preservation Summer Field School, offered since 1997 by Southeast Missouri State University and co-sponsored by the Missouri Department of Natural Resources, will sponsor a presentation titled “Research in the Summer Field School” on Wednesday, June 19, at noon in the County Services Building located at 255 E. Market Street in Ste. Genevieve, Mo.

Dr. Bonnie Stepenoff, a history professor at Southeast, will make the presentation, which is free and open to the public. In her slide presentation, Stepenoff will give an overview of the research collected during the last five years on the free African-American populations that settled in Ste. Genevieve before the Civil War. In addition, she will cover the research collected on the Delassus-Kern House.
