FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE SOUTHEAST'S TOP BUSINESS STUDENTS INDUCTED INTO THE INTERNATIONAL HONOR SOCIETY BETA GAMMA SIGMA
CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo., May 23, 2002 - Thirty-five students were inducted into the Southeast Missouri State University chapter of Beta Gamma Sigma International Honor Society for business students in a ceremony May 3 in Glenn Auditorium.
While almost 300,000 students receive bachelor's or master's degrees in business each year, only about 18,000 are inducted into Beta Gamma Sigma. Students ranking in the top 7 percent of the junior class, top 10 percent of the senior class and top 20 percent of master's programs at schools accredited by AACSB-International (The Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business-International) are eligible for this induction to honor society membership.
Beta Gamma Sigma membership has become an international honor. With the expansion of AACSB-International accreditation internationally, membership is no longer limited to those who have studied in the United States or Canada. These outstanding students now hold the highest recognition a business student anywhere in the world can receive in an undergraduate or master's program at a school accredited by AACSB-International.
Beta Gamma Sigma was founded as a national organization in 1913. Its mission is to encourage and honor academic achievement in the study of business; and personal and professional excellence in the practice of business. The principles and values of Beta Gamma Sigma include: honor and integrity, pursuit of wisdom and earnestness.
