FACULTY, STUDENTS HONORED IN SOUTHEAST'S COLLEGE OF EDUCATION

CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo., April 26, 2002 - Several Southeast Missouri State University students and faculty members were honored April 21 at the 2002 Annual College of Education Dinner.

Student leaders who have served as presidents of various student education organizations were honored at the banquet. Mary Muldering of Arnold, Mo., was honored for her work with the Alpha Eta Chapter of Kappa Delta Pi. Chip Mooney of Bloomfield, Mo., and Christina Heckenkamp of Quincy, Ill., were honored for their work with Chi Sigma Iota. Daisey Diederich of Hartsburg, Mo., received a certificate for her work with the Missouri National Education Association. Angie Spavale of St. Louis was recognized for her work with the Southeast Student Council of the International Reading Association. Katy Norkus of Belleville, Ill., received a certificate for her work with the Student Council for Exceptional Children. Laura Whitehead of Charleston, Mo., was honored for her involvement with the Student Missouri State Teacher's Association. Lulu Chuang of Taiwan was recognized for her involvement with the World Council for Curriculum and Instruction.

Dr. Cheryl Milde, assistant professor in the Graduate Program in Counseling, received the Faculty Award for Outstanding Teaching. Dr. Ruth Ann Roberts, assistant professor in the Graduate Program in Educational Administration, won the Faculty Award for Outstanding Scholarship. Dr. Kathy Conway, assistant professor of elementary education, received the Faculty Award for Outstanding Service. Dr. Gale McMahan, assistant professor in special education and assistant to the dean for accreditation, and Dr. Verl Pope, assistant professor in the Graduate Program in Counseling and assistant to the dean for accreditation, both received the Dean's Award for Outstanding Contributions.

Dr. Shirley Stennis-Williams, dean of the College of Education, and Dr. Margaret Dalton, assistant professor of educational administration and counseling, presented the outstanding faculty awards.
