PHI KAPPA PHI INDUCTION
CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo., April 19, 2002 - One hundred twenty-six students were inducted into the Southeast Missouri University Chapter of Phi Kappa Phi Honor Society in a ceremony April 14 in Academic Hall Auditorium.
Phi Kappa Phi is an international honor society for academic distinction that brings together individuals from a variety of disciplines. The society was founded at the University of Maine in 1897 and now has 282 chapters in all 50 states plus the District of Columbia, the Philippines and Puerto Rico. The society is open to all men and women in all academic fields who have demonstrated excellence of scholarship and integrity of character. More than a million scholars have been inducted into Phi Kappa Phi.
Southeast chartered its first Phi Kappa Phi chapter in 1992. Spring 2002 graduates and seniors who rank in the upper 10 percent of their class were invited to join this year. Also invited were juniors who rank in the upper five percent of their class, and graduate and professional students who rank in the upper 10 percent of all Southeast graduate and professional students and have an outstanding undergraduate record.
