FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

“FULL TILT” TO BE HELD APRIL 19-20
Southeast’s Department of Theatre and Dance presents a spring dance concert

CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo., April 15, 2002 - Southeast Missouri State University’s Department of Theatre and Dance presents “Full Tilt,” a spring dance concert, April 19-20, at 7 p.m. in the Forrest H. Rose Theatre.

“Full Tilt” brings the 2001-2002 University Theatre and Dance season to an exciting conclusion. Featured pieces include three works choreographed by students and three by faculty. The student pieces will include: “Primitive Fire,” choreographed by Maria Foster; “Staccato’s Theme,” choreographed by Jennifer Hembree of Ballwin, Mo.; and “Commissioned,” choreographed by Laura Brazer of Jackson, Mo. The faculty pieces will include: Dr. Marc Strauss’ “Someone to Watch Over Me” and “Silence is Golden;” and Paul Zmolek’s “Landscaping for Privacy,” with special guest choreographer, Joséphine Zmolek.

“Look for something modern, something jazzy, some things hip-hoppy, some things quirky and eclectic-a little ritual, a dash of contemporary, some accessible images, and even some ideas to challenge your thinking,” remarked Strauss, associate professor in the Department of Theatre and Dance. “You will also see dances performed to music, dancers singing, spoken text, live musicians, and even total silence.”

Strauss will undertake the duties of Artistic Director. C. Kenneth Cole, associate professor in the Department of Theatre and Dance, will be the technical director as well as lighting designer with Rhonda Weller-Stilson serving as costume designer/coordinator.

“Full Tilt” promises to entertain both those unfamiliar with dance in addition to dance aficionados as the University Theatre and Dance season closes its curtains with flair.

Ticket prices will be $6 for the general public, $5 for Southeast faculty, staff and senior citizens, and $4 for students. Tickets may be reserved at the Performing Arts Box Office at the Forrest H. Rose Theatre or at (573) 651-2265. Master Card and Visa gladly accepted. All tickets must be reserved.
