CRIMINAL JUSTICE DAY CAREER FAIR SLATED FOR APRIL 3

CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo., March 22, 2002 - The 30th Annual Criminal Justice Day Career Fair is planned for April 3 at Southeast Missouri State University.

The event is planned for 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. on the third floor of the University Center.

Dr. Robert Gaensslen, a forensic expert from the University of Illinois-Chicago, will make a guest presentation titled "Bits and Pieces - How Forensic Sciences Pieced Together a Case from Bits of Evidence." Gaensslen will speak during the Common Hour at noon in Academic Auditorium.

Criminal Justice Day provides college and high school students a chance to explore the many possibilities of a career in the criminal justice field, including law enforcement, corrections, private security and conservation employment options. Students are provided the opportunity to speak directly with representatives from agencies across the country.

Agencies scheduled to attend include the Carbondale (Ill.) Police Department, the Illinois State Police, the Missouri Army National Guard, the Missouri Division of Child Support Enforcement, the Missouri Division of Liquor Control, the Missouri State Highway Patrol, the Missouri State Water Patrol, the SEMO Regional Crime Lab, the Springfield Police Department, the U.S. Fish & Wildlife Service, the U.S. Marshal Service, the U.S. Secret Service, the Charleston Department of Public Safety, the Jefferson County Sheriff's Department, the Missouri Department of Conservation, the Missouri Division of Family Services, the Missouri Division of Youth Services, the Missouri State Park Rangers, the Overland Park Police Department, the Sikeston Department of Public Safety, Target, the U.S. Marine Corps, U.S. Probation and U.S.P. Marion.
