CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo., March 19, 2002 - - Cohort meetings for Southeast Missouri State University's off-campus delivery of coursework leading to a Master of Arts in Secondary Education degree are planned for the following dates:

  • April 3 - Poplar Bluff Loughead Building - Missouri Room
  • April 11 - Winona High School - ITV Classroom
  • April 16 - South Iron High School - Library
  • April 18 - Clearwater High School, Piedmont - ITV Classroom

This meeting will be for both students presently registered in the program and prospective students. Registered students and prospective Master of Arts degree-seeking students are to meet at any of the locations - all meetings begin at 4:30 p.m.

During these meetings, representatives of Southeast Missouri State University will further explain details of the program and enroll students. Dr. Fred Yeo, chair of the Department of Middle and Secondary Education, will be on hand to answer questions about the program. Admission requirements and transfer credit opportunities will be discussed.

Dr. Rick Hux, Director of the Crisp Bootheel Education Center will be on hand to discuss the program's delivery model, register students and coordinate site locations for student instruction.

The program of studies will begin this summer and will be delivered simultaneously at all sites. Students will be able to attend the site most convenient to them for coursework during this two-year program.

The coursework will be delivered through interactive instructional television (ITV), on-site, and via web-based classes.

"This is somewhat of an accelerated program and is designed to be delivered in the most accessible and convenient manner for the students who are, in many cases, practicing teachers," Hux said.
