TRI-BETA BILOGICAL SCIENCES HONOR SOCIETY TO HOST ROUND TABLE DEBATE ON GENETIC ENGINEERING

CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo., March 8, 2002 – The Southeast Missouri State University Tri-Beta Biological Sciences Honor Society will host a round table debate entitled “Genetic Engineering – Curing World Hunger or Simply Playing God?” on Friday, April 19.

The discussion is open to all students and the community. Many topics will be addressed, including labeling of genetically modified food, ethical aspects, and proposed benefits for using agricultural biotechnology. A wide range of guests, consisting of geneticists, dieticians, agriculturists, and consumer advocates, will be present for the debate.

The event will be held on April 19 at 2:45 p.m. in Magill Hall, Room 124, on the campus of Southeast Missouri State University. There is no charge for admission.
